At the beach
The day took a pleasant unexpected twist today. I started out early waiting for a text regarding delivery of new dishwasher, which could have been anywhere between 7am and 7pm. It was then advised my slot was between 3pm and 7pm. So having done dogs, chores and garden watering early, and both husband and son gone out to work, I was at a bit of a loose end for the middle part of the day.
So I got in touch with neighbour over the road and we decided to go to the Gamlingay farm shop for a spot of lunch. Except when we got there the cafe part has not yet re-opened.
So we dropped our purchases back home and then headed off the other direction to the pub at Great Barford.
The pub was "steady" and we had a good ploughman’s lunch.
Outside was another matter, by the river loads of families were sitting on the grass, boats up and down, kids in the water, young lads jumping off the bridge (!!) and I thought it looked as close to Bedfordshire beach life as you can get given we are so far inland!
Home in plenty of time, dishwasher turned up at 5pm.
