AOG - Day 11

In a surprise upset, Team Cardinal's captain, Chappy, walked away with the Gold Medal in the finals for Seed Shucking this morning.  Team Goldfinch had been heavily favored to win so it was a total shock when Chappy shucked his way to Gold.  The elements of this event are very delicate because the athlete must hold the seed carefully in his/her beak, cracking the outer shell and removing the tasty nutmeat with his tongue.  No hands allowed!  It takes hours of practice and nerves of steel to compete in this event.  This reporter thinks Team Cardinal may have gained their edge having shucked so many sunflower seeds this summer for their kids.  Whereas, Team Goldfinch has mainly just been lazing around all summer.

In other news, Miklos (who barely managed to pull off the win yesterday in the Milkweed Munching event) handily took Gold again this morning when he aced his performance in the Pupating Event.  He showed tremendous concentration as he shed his caterpillar skin and let his shiny green chrysalis emerge in just under 2 minutes - it had the crowds going wild!  You can see a recap of the event right HERE.

In other news, P-Hummie and Attila the Hummie are in a dither because a new boy showed up in the arena this morning.  P and Attila were quick to point out that he looked a bit shabby, but then he immediately showed them who was who when he chased them both out of the arena.  He then proudly sat near the podium ... and I'm not sure but I think he may have been gloating.  You decide...HERE.

Once again, I found myself laughing as I read the various reports from around the world on the 2020 AOG.  The reporting has been nothing short of fantastic and I am going to be sorry when we wrap up in 3 days.  But, I'm sure there will be some post-game interviews...  Meanwhile, you can see all of yesterday's events HERE and today's events HERE.

Tomorrow's tag is #aog202012

My virtual visit with the doctor was productive and she suggested I start a course of Musinex and Flonase to clear up the sinus congestion/inflamation.  The goal is to avoid an infection - and to stop the headaches.  I'm happy to say that, in spite of 90 F temps and high humidity, the headache is much better today so drugs are already doing their thing.

New Jersey's Covid RT and Positivity rates are back down now which is good news.  But caution is the watchword.

Stay safe.  Be kind and loving.  Wear a mask.
