Busier than Heathrow!

A roasting hot day away in the motorhome. Our first visit was to a ruin near Oxford - Hampton Gay (extra) - only viewable from the adjacent footpath but still very interesting. There was a dreadful rail accident close by on Christmas Eve 1874 when many of the victims were bright there for treatment. Then a double hit for the village in 1887 when the paper mill was closed and the Manor was destroyed by fire never to be rebuilt; this effectively meant the end of the village.

The main Great Western Railway goes over the River Cherwell at this point and it was here that we spotted a myriad of dragonflies all trying to land on the same stick - wrong lens of course but I did what I could.

We intended looking at Godstow Abbey next but there were crowds of visitors and nowhere to park (we need more space than the average car) so we moved on to our site near Wallingford. We walked Pepper down to the river where she was able to chase her ball in the water.

Now trying to keep cool for the evening....
