Sunbeams

Heat

An' when the sun, so low an' red,
Do sheen above the leafy head
O' zone broad tree, a -rizen high
Avore the vi'ry western sky, ....

from "Hay-Meaken" by William Barnes,
the Dorset dialect poet.

This has been the hottest and most humid day for us here.  Just walking up to my neighbours for a homemade cream tea nearly finished me off and they live next door!  The heat continued well into the sunset.  Later  I joined T and K for a pizza outside in their garden which was marginally better than sitting inside their house in "the cool".
