Day Of Surprises

Went to the Doctor and now have some drugs that should help reduce the anxiety.  I'm also off for the next 5 weeks, which should give me the time to come back to Earth.  On one hand it's a relief - which was a surprise.

Oh a couple of stories from here on how lucky we are not to have been harder hit by Corona.

In the surgery this morning, I was wearing a mask in accordance with my "Don't Be An Arse, Wear A Mask" policy, when this guy walks in.  He knows better, of course .  He's wearing his mask under his chin, presumably to protect his unevolved gills, the staff in the surgery point out the signs and give him a new mask.  This confuses the chap a lot, so he takes about 5 minutes to move the mask from under his chin into a jacket pocket.

A thought process that looked like this : left pocket?  Or right pocket?  Check what's in them first? Thorough check later, sticks in his inside pocket.

Then he takes the new mask and positions it very deliberately and slowly over his mouth.  At least his nose is free from the Tyranny Of The Mask.  What an absolute A******.

And then there was the radio bulletin about the COVID-19 breakout in Wiesbaden.  A bloke had hired a big house here for a "private party".  He invited 100 people, no social distancing and the latest count is 19 people diagnosed with the disease.

2nd surprise arrived in a big box.  Tea for my new teapot*?

No.

It was from my employer.  A box filled with straw and these goodies. Crackers, olives, orange & ginger syrup, 50 cl Gin and a bottle of Soda Water.  Quite obviously the Breakfast Of Champions where I work...  It was accompanied by a short note telling us all to take care and maybe enjoy a refreshing drink and snack one afternoon.

Well done them.

*Danke an die Princess
