Between fen and mountains

Hotel through the trees

This was one of the very few, fine buildings that were not swept away by the catastrophic floods of 1940.  The Hotel du Portugal is reserved for members of the army and their families for summer holidays.  It is open to the public one day a year to inspect but only has a 2* classification as it lacks modern amenities such as en suite bedrooms and is much as it was during the Belle Epoque. I have had a quiet day today after yesterday's exertions, a yoga class and some detailed online research to try and find all the necessary information to complete a €15,000 grant application which lacks some bureaucratic details.
