Quod oculus meus videt

Quiet Contemplation

It was VJ Day + 75 today.  I found myself near the German War Cemetery on Cannock Chase at 11:00 am, just as the 2 minute silence was taking place.  I can't imagine any more appropriate place to be, on the anniversary of the day that World War II finally came to an end.

The cemetery itself never looks better, with the heather colouring up amongst the neat rows of headstones that spread across the shallow valley.

I was trying out a new filter.  The Lee IRND 10 stop neutral density filter lives up to its name.  There is no discernible colour cast and I couldn't see any vignetting that can occur on the Big Stopper, which provides a similar effect, cutting the light down by 10 stops reaching the sensor.  No need to change the white balance to compensate.  It turned a 30th of a second  into a 30 second exposure.  I can't wait to try it on some other subjects.

Day Miles:  5.2 miles. Total Miles: 1,024.1 miles
