Breaks in the showers

After the whimsy of yesterday's exercise in horror photography here's a much more gentle shot of the insect life in the garden taking advantage of a brief lull in the rain, and a spot of watery sunshine.  There has certainly been no shortage of small whites this year, they aren't the most attractive or interesting of butterflies but they make up for that in being the most prolific around here.

We're due the next set of thunder and lightning this evening, if the weatherman is to be believed.  Last time we were promised lightning I spent a couple of hours trying to get a shot of it(!) I'm not sure I'm going to bother trying that again unless its much closer.
