Sunday lunch

Today marked the first meal out for us since before Christmas.

What with my joint replacements followed by corvid -19 and lockdown our social lives have been seriously curtailed.

So today was quite an event. We chose to go to  a remote small hotel , Monachyle Mhor, tucked at the top of loch Voil and at the end of a narrow single-track road which I first visited over thirty years ago when it won the best Bed and Breakfast award of the year.

This place has a special memory for me. It's run by a family who sold up their farm outside Abergavenny (the area I come from in Wales and our families knew each other) and they bought this isolated farm.
Today the children of the original owners, the Lewis’s, run the business with further eateries in Balquhidder and Callander.

This is a success story with an unusual twist. The family took this venture on even though the mother, and driving force behind the venture, Jean Lewis was blind following a hunting accident in Wales.
