Mono Monday . . . Key or Quay

Wakefield Quay Nelson was named after Captain Arthur Wakefield of the New Zealand Company and was where many early European Settlers first set foot in New Zealand.  In front of the white building is a bronze sculpture showing a migrant family arriving around 1842.  It marks an early landing site for both Maori and early settlers.  English artist Anthony Stones created it.  In the foreground is the Early Settlers Memorial wall which has engraved panels listing the ships and passengers names which arrived here from 1841 to 1850. On Saturday I saw a print of a water colour of migrants walking ashore and three big sailing ships anchored in the deeper water.  I can't imagine leaving your home on the other side of the world and sailing here to start a new life.
Thank you Kathy for another interesting challenge.
