The dipper

This roofless building is owned by the village. It was initially an out-building of the old Galson Farm, but for as long as I can remember it has been the dipping shed for the crofters' sheep in this village. It is used only occasionally these days, because there are fewer sheep, but the stone pens and the sheltering walls make it a very useful village asset (it was a great shelter out of the Scandinavian wind today!). In this earlier blip, you can see the building in the context of the village (it is the white gable-end at the far end of the village road).
