50th Birthday Party

Walked into town through sleet and drizzle to go and collect my repaired ring. It looks lovely -apart from mending the break, it has been re-rhodium plated and is now very shiny again. Feels good to have it back on my finger.

Spent the afternoon getting things ready for the glamorous 50th birthday party (Glamorous party invitation). We headed off to the venue at about 4 pm and managed to find the hotel OK. Once the receptionist found our booking (done from first name rather than surname for some reason!), we were much happier. Watched a bit of the rugby and then got dressed up. Managed to get husband's proper bow tie sorted and looking quite good. Think we scrubbed up quite well.

The party was lovely. Good to see a few of husband's colleagues again. There was a great band with 'proper' dancing so we watched rather than participated. The birthday couple (with 100 years between them) had asked for donations to a hospice and the local church hall building fund in lieu of presents (one of them is chaplain to the hospice). We were happy to oblige and I hope that they have raised lots of money to support their chosen causes.

Back to the hotel in the drizzle and time to retire to the enormous bed in our room.
