Quoit

On the way back from Cape Cornwall this afternoon we stopped at Lanyon Quoit, a very well known and much photographed prehistoric monument dating from the early Neolithic period. Unfortunately it is one of the least authentic, as in 1815 it collapsed in a storm and was re-erected in a completely different form, or so it is thought, but who knows really.

However that may be, it is quite impressive and sits in a great background, including the remains of a tin mine on the horizon, so spanning a history of man's use of the environment of around 5,000 years.
