Orchid

One of those days...you know the one when you walk into a room to do something, see something else which needs done so do it before you forget...then two/three hours later walk into the room and remember your original task!! Yes one of those :-)

The day started well after finding out that the boys had been approved by panel and accepted to adopt a child/children, hopefully in the near future. Looking forward to becoming a Grandma, we know they’ll get a little boy or perhaps two brothers pre school age...it will be exciting to have little people in our lives again! Especially when we can give them back at the end of the day ;-))

The weather started sunny, changed to wet, got windy, was very warm and culminated in a beautiful sunset! The wind was blowing dead petals all over from the vases of flowers in the conservatory...I sorted one lot out then took the big vase of birthday flowers and sat it on the table outside, took a few derelict photos then remembered I was going to blip the orchid. I left the task in hand, went back indoors and set up the tripod to get a blip...there was an enormous gust of wind followed quickly by a crashing sound...my favourite Portmeirion vase lay shattered on the patio! It was one we’d bought MiL many years ago...I’ve had it for 22 years so not sure whether I’ll be able to replace it or not.

I love orchids and usually manage to keep them alive and flowering for many months but I’ve never had any luck getting them to reflower...until now! This one has been sitting dormant on the windowsill for a year or more when it suddenly decided to grow some new shoots which weren’t roots and the first flowers opened this week. They’re weren't the easiest flower to photograph, I may need to try again another day!

Thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.
