The Guildford Hotel, est 1886........

....burnt to the ground in 2008. It was under suspicious circumstances but was resolved eventually. Then it took forever for the owners to be able to rebuild. Heritage committees. Say no more.  It was reopened in 2016.

We went there this morning with the camera club and were lucky because we had a whole hour to roam around before the doors were open to the public. It was fascinating to see how the architects have incorporated parts of the original pub, even to the point of retaining parts of the burnt wood as features. The original windows have been incorporated over the bars, old books and artefacts have also been used. A very impressive restoration indeed.

Many thanks for the love bestowed upon the hungry osprey yesterday. Much appreciated :-)
