It's a Man thing

If you need a special fitting for a power cable sometimes you need more than one to pick from. I am told these are all male. I have no idea why things like these need a gender. And who decides which is which and is there only a choice of two ?

I could never tell what sex the hamster was but it did keep running up the inside of my trouser leg.
