Dunstanburgh Castle

What a day.

We had planned to go to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and do lots of walking today, sadly the weather and lockdown conspired against us. We stopped in Bamburgh for coffee and the drove up towards Holy Island, along with about half the country it seemed, ..sadly the causeway was one long traffic jam, I have never seen so many vehicles trying to get across. Car parks were full and it was pouring with rain so we decided that it wouldn’t be pleasant on the island with so many people and potentially nowhere to get a lunch indoors. So we turned round, stopped briefly in the sand dunes for a photo (extra) and left. The approach to the causeway was still one long queue of vehicles heading to the island.

We stopped at Belford for lunch - we were lucky as they had one table for two, but nothing else until late afternoon. We also stopped at a mini supermarket for a few snacks for tea and then drove back to Embleton in the rain.

Afternoon nap followed and around 5 p.m. the sun came out so we walked down to the beach (20 minutes or so) where I took the shot of Dunstanburgh Castle.

Champagne chilling and snacks lined up.
