Ornate Gate

We awoke to heavy downpours this morning - and with more forecast throughout the day we decided to abandon our plans for walking and head home from Northumberland.

We stopped for coffee at Barter Books in Alnwick - that was very busy and I certainly didn’t feel safe in the shop, although the coffee rooms weren’t too bad.

The drive home down the A1 was awful - heavy rain, wind and spray made driving a miserable experience. It was so grim we couldn’t even see The Angel Of The North as we passed.

We had ad some lunch, Mrs madwill has gone to the studio to post out her orders and I have been for a wet walk around the villages. Stopped to photograph these fancy gates in the wall of what used to be a convent - now a private residence.
