Nap Time

After the rain had stopped we went to the park in the hope of finding more Rowan berries - having lived in the area for 30 years it's odd that I couldn't remember whether there were Rowans - but there were two trees well enough endowed that there were plenty for me and for the birds.

We returned by way of Cockmylane, passing behind the old Comiston Farmhouse (which, incidentally, is still boarded up) with its spacious garden and, over the wall what should we see but this family of four foxes taking their rest right in the middle of the wet grass. I wonder whether these are related to or the same foxes we see in our garden each night.

Later, learning that the Red Arrows were to be performing the fly-past postponed (due to cloud cover) from VJ Day, we nipped down to Portobello to watch. Noticing a cloud of coloured smoke in the distance we watched the sky for more, only to see them sneak up incognito, mere dots in the air like a skein of geese, not turning on the smoke trail until they had passed - see extra, taken seconds apart - flying in to the sun.
Disappointing, but at least we saw them.
