Derelict Restaurant

I was looking for a Mono Monday with the theme of Mail or Male. Couldn’t see one for love nor money. It is mono, it is Monday but it’s an entry for Derelict Sunday which runs all week. Thank you Marlieske.

This was a floating restaurant until the end of February this year when it rather spectacularly went up in flames. https://www.kentonline.co.uk/maidstone/news/floating-restaurant-goes-up-in-flames-222713/ It’s been there ever since, a derelict blot on the landscape on the banks of the river adjacent to some of the oldest and nicest buildings in the town.

That’s the Maidstone Crown Court in the background. It has to be said that the twin has not made the best of its riverside asset. What with the Court, many warehouses, car parks, flats and busy, noisy roads it’s not a place to linger in peaceful tranquility.

I was that way owing to an emergency dental appointment to see if my teeth were causing a dull ache in my upper jaw. It feels the same as it did when I had to have two teeth removed in May 2018 owing to an abscess.

Having rang up this morning I was surprised to get an appointment this afternoon! Fortunately, there was no evidence of an abscess or any other dental cause to the discomfort. Which was pleasing in one way and not in another as I’m no closer to finding out the cause.

We did a few other bits of shopping in town then returned home, Susan to go to her mother’s and me to get dinner, prepare some Bircher muesli, cook damsons and slice apples to dry on the dehydrator. All go for the both of us.
