Black Jack

I think Jack heron must be getting fed up with Ollie dog and me disturbing him when we walk around the lake in the morning. Today, instead of flying over and landing amongst the bog beans, he let out a loud squawk, circled and flew back to his perch in the gum tree.

I got some shots of a pair of green woodpeckers anting but they were well in the distance. My willow emerald damselfly landed on the end of a dead blackthorn twig. This is a classic perch for this species, they love exposed positions like this.
