Rural Art

Rural letterboxes are something of an artform in this country. They invariably retain a degree of eccentricity, almost for the sake of it. The corner fence post to which this structure is attached, does not have to be twisted and bent ... yet it is. The upright support and its horizontal beam need not stand at a jaunty angle but they do. The rusty old drum (into which mail is placed) is not required to tilt in order that items can slide out again onto the ground ... but of course it really must. Truly an iconic shape.
