Woodland friends

What a different day, sunshine from the off and warm too.

We headed over to the Stoke Park Estate, a lovely stretch of grass and woodland above the M32 with great views over the city of Bristol from it’s northern edge.

We have walked here before, in particular when the bluebells are out and there are extensive walks and views. A great asset for the city.
The family have and still do a lot of running here but it’s fun for adventures for little ones,

Today we followed a woodland trail seeking out woodcarvings of woodland animals. They are not free standing (for example like the ones that used to be seen in the St Ives Estate) but are cut into fallen trees where they stand. Some take a bit of seeking off the main path but this one of rabbits was the first we found, quite near to the path once we established which that was!

I think they are delightful. The owl family was more difficult to find and we met a family who had found it before but we’re struggling to find it again!
The little girl came running after us to say they had found it and took us to it which was very kind, She asked if we had seen the mouse before they resumed their search.
The mouse and fox remained elusive but we went on to find hedgehogs, a snake and a squirrel. A lovely idea for young children, Eda loved it,  and a super space fo all.

Eda is bring a rabbit here!
