Unknown click beetle

I wasn't inspired outdoors this morning, but have been taking some close-ups of a beetle for identification purposes inside. I'm using the bathroom, which has an overhead skylight as well as a wall of windows, because it is too bright in the conservatory. The background is a terra cotta tile.

We don't know what species this click beetle is, so are sending a couple of images to a colleague to see whether he thinks he can do anything with it, and if he does, we'll send him a few of our specimens. It is now on a pin, as you can see, so that it can be examined on all sides, and is not quite 10 mm long.
