Apis on the Asparagus

Kept catching whiffs of a wonderful smell, but couldn't figure out where it was coming from; then realised that the asparagus is in flower. Walked up the Land early this morning, thinking I'd get some low light, but the sun was mostly hidden by clouds. Which is fantastic. Zero chance of rain, though, and the clouds soon cleared, giving us another hot day, over 20 degrees hotter than Sutton when I looked.

But our Land is covered in fragrant clouds of asparagus blossom, a glorious gift in the midst of scorching heat. Can't help hoping it's a sign of rain to come... This photo doesn't do it justice (might have to do more another day), but liked the bee; they are loving it.

Gratefuls:
- without any doubt whatsoever, top one is family making plans to come this year, didn't dare hope, absolutely thrilled!!!
- getting stung several times by a bunch of wasps while moving tiles, but put vinegar, and just a bit sore now
- cooling off in the wine vat, twice today
