Homemade

Abstract Thursday: Homemade

(A long exposure shot, taken whilst I ran around the home pausing in various rooms for effect. I've ended up overlaying two shots to reduce some of the light in the long exposure so the EXIF data is lying, the original exposure was 15 seconds at f22, ISO 100, (if you worry about these things))

When you stop to think about it, it was all our own fault really.

We've grown so used to being able to walk over the fields to the pub in the neighbouring village that we just expected it to be open this evening, notwithstanding the weather.  It has been a bit "interesting" today in weather terms.  It poured with rain at lunch time, and the early afternoon featured some (small) thunderstorms.  By late afternoon the were blue skies for all of half an hour before it clouded over again.  With that in mind and the forecast of 50% showers this evening the chaps knew that they needed to be dressed for the weather before setting off - given that we would be sitting outside.

Having met on time, we crossed the river and climbed the hill to the neighbouring village and its pub.  We were somewhat non-plussed that they had decided that, given the torrential rain earlier in the day, they wouldn't bother opening. The very nice Landlady explained that, had we looked at their Facebook page we would have realised....

As it was, the 4 of us, dressed in muddy boots and gortex, were not going to be able to get a beer in their beer garden tonight.

Instead we marched back down the hill and visited one of the local pubs, where (given the weather competition for seats was limited) we were still able to sit outside - although every now and again (but not that often one) poor unfortunate member of the team had to don a mask and go inside to order beer.

After the first pint Dave joined us.  He'd been late and had nobly turned up (with car) at the first pub, intending to be our driver and save us from walking home. As we were local, he was instead able to imbibe and proceeded to do so.

Poor Dave, as he no longer needed to drive he reluctantly swapped his role as taxi driver for beer drinker.  I am sure he won't regret it tomorrow ...
