Nature Diary... Gimme Shelter
Through the Window Early this Morning
These youngsters, and many other young Sparrows feeding alongside them, must have heard the weather forecast because soon after these photos were taken the sea turned to a dark grey colour, the sun disappeared as clouds blotted out the blue sky which then became a light grey colour, a wind began to stir the branches of the massive tree on the cliff top about 500 yards away, and the rain fell in a sudden, soaking deluge.
Then the wind suddenly stopped. The rain suddenly stopped. And a hopeful patch of blue sky appeared through the blanket of grey. But before that happened all the little birds had, en masse, flown into the shelter of the trees in my garden. Clever little things!
No doubt they’ll be back to feed again later in the day, weather permitting.
Many thanks to everyone for your visits, for your comments, and for all the stars and hearts for my photos. They're all very much appreciated.
