Life, Universe & Not Much

Those were the days

After 4 days of working to sort out a relatively modern (8 years old) Mac, I decided to get out one of my older computers (more than 10 years old).It fired up immediately without any problems! Out runs Windows XP, but that still works fine, even if it is not supported. There was a short period when Netbooks like this were popular - typically very small and cheap, though with limited power. I had the Original Asus version, which was very limited and could not run Windows - it used Linux instead. This is the Samsung response, which appeared very soon after the original Asus, and had more memory and a hard disc, allowing it to run Windows, though as the extra shows it could also run Linux, and mine is set up with a dual boot, so that I can run either. The small, low res screen is a bit limiting, but usable for basic things, though not really for photo work.

Things were so much simpler in those days, and in addition the machines could often be repaired, rather than having memory, discs etc soldered in place.
