Solo

Today I had my first weekend run for months, going around a 14km route above Ninemileburn that I used to do regularly until I injured myself a couple of years ago. I was expecting to feel slow, but was encouraged by the time it took me, particularly given some of the rough and wet terrain. I had Django with me [see extra] and he must have got a bit hot or bored, because he was trailing behind me in the last couple of kilometres. This meant that I couldn't run flat out down the Monk's Rig, which was a little frustrating.

Up on the moors the heather was just past its best, and although it's pretty to see, I can't help regretting the fact that the uplands of Scotland are an ecological desert.
