Devil's Gate

I first saw this bridge watching the HBO series, Perry Mason, about  a down-and-out private investigator in 1932 Los Angeles.  A detective has to have a close connection with the city and its ways if they are to be good at their job. The City of Angels gives an edge to Mason’s character and also serves as home to him.  Each episode of the show features stunning sets that go from lavish mansions and ritzy clubs to rolling farmland and country hillsides.  (See the EXTRA, for a scene from the show).

This bridge is really a dam called Devil’s Gate Reservoir in nearby La Canada Flintridge. Nearly 100-years old, the dam was designed for both flood control and water conservation.  It also served as the main road between La Canada and Pasadena for many years.
