Make-up Mirror

The desert sees
itself through
many eyes:

mice eyes, hummingbird eyes,
ground squirrel, lizard and
tarantula  eyes.

It knows itself
so perfectly from
every point of view.

Not just a make-up mirror, rear view
But, from below the ground
as a bug sees it.

And from a red-tailed hawk
banking steeply
into a wild, pencil-thin thermal,

wings buffeted
as it spirals down
and takes it in.
