First walk of the season - Blea Tarn

Please look LARGE

By popular request, we took a trip to Blea Tarn today, good job too, as there was more snow around the Langdales than in the North Lakes. The journey down was slightly delayed due to a car on it's roof along the A594, so we detoured round the back of Thirlmere. through Grasmere, over red bank, where we stopped for some time to shoot the Langdale valley, before going on to Blea.

Despite the appearance, the water wasn't quite as calm as it looks, needing either a big stopper or - in this case - a 10-shot multiple exposure to smooth out the surface and emphasise the reflections a bit more. A 0.45 ND grad was used to control the sky, and prevent a loss of detail in the distand Langdale Pikes.
