Two Firsts

Whilst having lunch today, a large butterfly flew into view, and settled on a dahlia leaf just outside the window. It was an invitation to have its picture taken.

We have not had many butterfly visitors this year, A very early holly blue, the occasional white and small tortoiseshell, and that’s it. So this first red admiral was very welcome, even though it did not stay long.

We had half an apple each for lunch (extra), the first fruit from our small tree. The apples this year are fewer but larger and less pitted. And courtesy of being at home so much , I have a complete photographic record of the transition from bud to flower to developing fruit.
