LD 161. Seen close up

The landslip that has closed the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful for the last four weeks was a big one which has been very disruptive for much of my constituency so I make no apologies for referring to it in a blip again.

This evening I was a passenger in a car going through the Old Military Road and managed to get some pictures.  They are inevitably foreshortened given that they are taken from the bottom of the glen looking upwards but this one shows clearly the scale of the collapse and the work that is being done to rebuild the road which has been partially swept away.

The delay to get through the OMR was very short and we were congratulating ourselves on the good time we were making when we got caught in a closure further on (at Arden) with the only possible detour being via Helensburgh.    That was full of lorries and very slow, adding well over an hour to the trip to Edinburgh.

When we got there the city was very quiet - particularly as this would have been the night for the Festival Fireworks..

What a strange year !
