Promise of Autumn

I found this little bit of twig, complete with lichen and orange berries, as I chopped up the remains of a rowan tree, also known as a mountain ash. Just what I needed for this week's Tiny Tuesday challenge, and it heralds the start of Autumn.

The tree is at the end of my garden, and the storm winds last week took the top out.  It is such a pity as the birds love it, especially at this time of year when it is covered with succulant berries.  I placed some of the lbranches with clumps of berries around the garden so hopefully they can still enjoy thm for a while.  Some of the lower limbs of the tree are still intact, so perhaps it will rejuvenate in the years to come - fingers crossed!
