Huddled

I sheltered inside for most of the day as Storm Francis battered the country. This is the first time that there have been two named storms in August, very likely a result of climate change.

By late afternoon the wind had dropped a bit, so I went for a short walk round the Rowing Lake, avoiding any areas near large trees. An old field maple on Thorpe Road that had lost several branches, and several large willows along the river had also suffered from the wind.

It was quite unpleasant walking in the gusty conditions and, unsurprisingly, there was little wildlife about, so I turned back sooner than expected. This brood of late ducklings were definitely hunkered down, huddled together under the watchful eye of Mum.
