Summerhill

At Summerhill Lane, Steeton were hosting Salts in a pre-season Airedale derby friendly.

Three seasons ago the two teams were in the West Riding Premier Division together, but since then Steeton have moved up to the semi-pro world of the NW Counties, Salts have moved across to the West Yorkshire League and suffered one relegation and the West Riding league has been dissolved. A lot can happen in a few years in football.

As my local team, this was the fifth time I’ve seen Salts this pre-season and I’ve been impressed. They’ve been beating higher ranked opposition and continued that tonight with a 3-1 victory which was well deserved. Hopefully this bodes well for their coming 20/21 league campaign, assuming we can get through a season without further significant disruption.
