Ready for take-off

I went for a stroll this evening in search of a blip and spotted this gull on the water in the park, swimming with the ducks.  I took a few photos of it, when it suddenly took off and landed on this post.  It kept its wings outstretched for a couple of moments and then took off again and flew away.
