Exploring

Our family likes to explore. It doesn't need to be long treks, it doesn't need to be planned, in fact our exploring is quite often a spur of the moment kind of thing.

Sometimes a rushed rustle through the pantry will provide us with a picnic and sometimes not, just a little fruit, some biscuits or bag of potato chips, throw a couple of cold drinks in a bag and we're away but other times a more elaborate picnic is planned.

Today was a spur of the moment kind of thing. The weather was cloudy and a little iffy - will it rain, will the sun shine, we threw a few things in the car and headed away to Gore Bay. The tide was out as we ambled along the beach, the smell of the sea air difting by on a lazy breeze, the sea quietly and calmly rolling in, gulls circling above us and oystercatchers running along with their sharp calls trying to keep ahead of us, they are little characters. When the tide is in it roars and crashes right up to the face of the clift leaving behind a trail of coloured seaweed, a crayfish leg or two, tiny shells and lots of odd looking stones - Daughter A came away with a treasure or two.

So a casual one of hubby with Daughter A and Daughter E, a little seascape - theres a rock which looks like an old boot, just simply enjoying a little exploring.
