Sunday walk

I met up with Penny, an old friend and long-ago teaching colleague this morning, for the first time since the Covid pandemic began. We did a circular walk on the northern edge of Sheffield, following footpaths and quiet lanes. The sun shone, there were blackberries in the hedges and fabulous trees. We caught each other up with news of friends and family. And shared a therapeutic rant about the recent catalogue of government failings. Failings seems too mild a word, on that score.
