Living in Sheffield, enjoying "retirement" with my other half (Richard, who will rarely appear here as he hates having his photo taken).   The rest of the family members who do appear here from time to time... Jack, my son, his partner Marianna and their daughter Frieda; Ruth, my daughter, her partner Josh and their sons Eben and Luca.

I left my full-time university lecturer job in Oct 2014, but continued with a part-time role until 2017.  With three young grandchildren now, all living in Sheffield too, life is enjoyably busy.

I have experimented with taking photos ever since being given a Kodak Brownie 127 as a child.  As an adult, getting hold of a secondhand Olympus OM1 SLR brought new discoveries and happy times. Eventually the transition to digital came together, and these days I'm a Nikon fan. I've picked up assorted vintage lenses along the way.  Day-to-day, the iPhone comes in handy too.  A recent addition to the camera bag is a little Leica X Vario compact, bought secondhand on the strength of various reviews describing it as a neglected gem (it reviewed poorly when launched and was therefore cheap).  It's lightweight, it's got an amazing lens and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
