Random sign on the way to dinner. Yes, we ate at a restaurant again! Outdoor tables, strategically placed.Lots of masks. It was fun to be out, and a very good choice on this very very hot day. See Extra for proof that it hit 106 degrees this afternoon here on the coast. My friend in the hills up the road recorded 113. 
We stayed in all day. Duh. I've started a new book by Sue Monk Kidd--The Book of Longings, a novel about Ana, the imagined wife of Jesus. It is the perfect read for a long hot day in a comfortable chair.

The local fire is now 72% contained. I'm not sure how they figure that, but it is a very good number. Our extended family was able to return home; although they still don't have power, they can at least begin to assess the damage and maybe begin a plan to clean up the property.
