Ashington to St Mary's Lighthouse

We set out for Ashington this morning, despite the miserable weather, to revisit old family roots. The extra is the Woodhorn Colliery Museum which was closed but we enjoyed a walk around the Queen Elizabeth II nature park developed on the site of one of the biggest colliery spoil heaps in Europe following the collierys closure in the early 1980s.
Afterwards we drove down the coast to St Mary's lighthouse just north of Whitley Bay. The tide was out so we crossed the causeway for a walk around the island. Later we came back, after a stop at Blyth, when the tide was in to get this shot.
