Red Sun, Yellow Sky

If I could have fit the circling vultures into the frame it would have completed the trifecta of surrealism in which we are existing . The power was turned off at 3am. The estimated time of restoration is tomorrow at 7pm. After much drama early this brought about by attempts to make coffee, we finally got the wifi, the television the fridge and a few lights and power sockets working. There is no water. The smoke is worse than it was when the fires were only fifteen miles away.

The only 'good' thing about the smoke is the fact that there is no wind to blow it away. It is also cooler today....only 90º or so.

I don't even know what is burning now, or where, but it is beginning to feel as if the whole state must be on fire...over 2,000,000 acres in California have burned since the lightning storms of August 16 and 17.

Blipper EvelyneNC. has a similar version of the horrendous conditions in her part of Oregon, and has written about it better than I am able to. I have run out of words....
