Godstow Abbey

A ruin near Oxford. The last time we came, just after lockdown had finished, it was a hot day and the area was extremely busy, lots of groups picnicking and swimming. We couldn't park the motorhome anywhere, so left. On our return home, later in the week, the weather was terrible, so we gave up. Today, on our way to Dorset, we succeeded! The clouds weren't quite as dramatic as they look but it was very grey. It's another ruin tucked of in my book, 'Wild Ruins'.

Godstow Abbey was home to a group of 12th century nuns; Henry II's mistress was buried here apparently and she wasn't a nun!
