Buds of winter

While other parts of the country have not had a sniff of snow this last week, we are in to day two of a good covering here at Warley Woods. We are 775 ft above sea level at the highest point (Warley Water Tower) and so the snow arrives and stays longer than other parts of the West Midlands. Golfers living in Stourbridge (just a few miles south and west) did not believe it today when they were told there was no way they could play on the nine-hole course at Warley Woods.
But evidence of Spring buds can now be clearly seen on the large horse chestnut trees down by the pavilion car park.
So there is not long to go before this winter is past...
This picture is a tribute to dear friend of mine who I probably saw for the last time. These are the buds of May.
