Day out!

We took time away from the house and garden for a day out exploring. It was lovely to have a day off spent together; first one since lockdown!
We went to Eggleston Gardens which is a wonderful place. It grows all the plants that are hardy to growing in the North of England. We took away lots of ideas and will certainly be returning to purchase some stock at a later date when we have a better plan of what we want to do in our 'field', which is slowly looking more like a garden! I love the idea of buying one of the Christmas trees that have been grown from seed and nurturing it from one year to the next.
There was a really old but small derelict church, a huge tree growing inside one of the rooms. The churchyard was entered through a lovely gateway and had some very old gravestones, some are now illegible but others still really clear from the 1700's. There was a section for pets, the row in extras, one obviously a dog, main  photo another probably a parrot as it had the name Polly aged 30 years on it!
There are many fruits tress grown in all manner of different ways. I thought the apple arbour was super cool!
We went on to see where Barry's great grandfather had worked and he talked to the man who now owns what was the smiddy. He knew the history and about the family. He told Barry where he could get more information and photos. Very exciting! That will be for another day.
We had lunch just across the road from the smiddy at an organic cafe with organic farm shop. Luscious lunch!
On the way home I had a phone call from a friend, luckily Barry was driving. They were in Weymouth where we used to live just for the day as they are caravanning at West Bay for a week. We had a video call when I got home so she could show me what had changed. Quite a lot in just a year!
All in all, a very different, and most enjoyable day!
