Pottering around Penrith

A greyish day so no glorious views as we drove up to Penrith but at least it wasnt raining as we had 3 hours to kill while the car was serviced. We cant get a courtesy car because dogs are no longer allowed.

We strolled down a quiet road past the allotments and I got out my camera and started to takes some photos but it started spitting, so camera back in the bag. ( luckily it didnt last long)
We went to the Toffee Shop to get some of their delicious fudge which we first discovered in 1990 Nice to see the shop is still open. Got 4 huge slabs .. I doubt itll last longer than  a week!
Next, The Lemon Tree cafe in the arcade so we can sit 'outside' with Fletch  while still being inside. A nice relaxing lunch.
A wander past the church then strolled up to Penrith castle.

Despite being a full service the cost was half what we expected. Good... Everything all ok except it does need 2 parts replacing on the rear suspension " it's ok at the moment but it will need doing! "
A shame they could nt have done it then.  It's not that we cant come back but theres not a lot to do in Penrith , apart from enjoying a nice lunch.. which isnt a hardship.  Looks like I'll have to have it done sooner than later. Winter driving over Shap isnt fun.
The car purred on it's way home
