Between fen and mountains

Incivilités

Incivilités is the word the French use for antisocial behaviour. Last week, the old dairy building was vandalized by a group of individuals, some of whom were identified by the gendarmerie. The investigation is ongoing.

The local Council newsletter complains vociferously about the increase in behaviours that do not respect the rules of community life such as respect for others, politeness or even courtesy. They complain that, " Antisocial behaviour is a real scourge: cigarette ends thrown on the ground, spitting, inconvenient parking, overflowing garbage cans and rubbish on the ground, bulky items left on the ground, dog dirt, sluices stolen from irrigation channels, degraded and soiled public toilets and the motorhome site's electricity points clogged up with bags of dog excrement." The local beauty spot at the top of the village has had more graffiti and fly tipping of sofas. The other night our front door received a very loud kick which I thought had broken the panel before the youth ran off. It seems everyone is getting fed up!
