Stuff and Nonsense

Cattle Egrets #72

Today on our way home we visited RSPB Marshside. Apart from a huge flock of redshank, there weren’t that many different types of birds about.
However there were a few cattle egrets about, although they were quite far away.
We are fortunate in the north west as cattle egrets are not such a rarity and despite the first recorded breeding in the UK only being in 2008, they are often seen at Burton Mere or Marshside in particular. Today we saw at least 8, but I have since seen reports on FB of there being 20 at Marshside. Such news about birds being on the increase is very heartwarming and in contrast to lots of reports about species being in decline due to global warming.
Popped in to see my parents who are both well and going for their flu jabs tomorrow. Best to be prepared for every eventuality.

Will catch up with some more journals over the weekend. Thanks so much for all the lovely stars, hearts and comments on yesterday’s otters. They are all very much appreciated.
